Meet Honest Skincare
When we bought the brand back in 2017, there were 3 products in 3 scents. We started by making products in the kitchen and recruiting our beautiful daughters to label products at the kitchen table.
In 2018 we moved into a small laboratory type setup at the back of a furniture warehouse, and continued to develop our range of offerings. It was about this time that we started learning about Kawakawa, and added Kawakawa Balm and oil to our range.
2020...
2020 hit, and it was boring! We suddenly were inundated with requests for ingredients. people were mking their own skincare at home and we were delighted to introduce ingredients. We also introduced Make'Your-Own DIY kits for people who needed a little extra direction in getting started.
2021...
Life went back to a new normal, and we moved our operation to a small 89m2 warehouse in Ellerslie. but within just a year or two, it got too small! So we rented a shop around the corner and moved some of our operation there, as well as a garage from a homeowner down the road... our stuff was everywhere, we had more customers, online demand was increasing... we needed more space!
2023
In 2023, Janna met Chalky on the golf course. Over a few badly played holes, they chatted about what they do... and Janna was introduced to Nanolayr. After some pretty in-depth discussions, a few meetings, and some shared ideas - Restore+ was born. A collagen mask that actually penetrates skin to the deepest layers, infused with our hero ingredient - Kawakawa. It took two years to come to market, but it was worth the wait!
The next couple of years were a bit of a whirlwind - we introduced a full range of Kawakawa skincare, added to our ingredients and dicovered organic castor oil. And DEFINITELY ran out of space - it was time to move!
2025
In March 2025, we moved to our current warehouse at 8c Walls Road in Penrose. We were also lucky to bring on Cory, Bonnie, Alex, Theo and Breeze full time - now it has become a real family business. Plus we still have our wonderful packers who come in after school and pack all your orders in time for the 5pm courier. We finally got to release our Restore+ range too. What do you think? I think we might need more space!
We are very happy to report that all our products are made and packaged in our warehouse, giving us complete control over quality. We're just waiting on Biogro to confirm our organic certification now... a journey from the kitchen to a warehouse. We love our jobs and can't tell you how much we appreciate our customers and your feedback.

We infuse high-quality natural oils like sweet almond oil with known skin stimulators like organic black tea and fairtrade coffee to create our signature scents. These oils are blended with other oils by hand and poured or scooped into containers—you don't get much simpler than that!

At Honest Skincare, we believe that what you put on your skin is as important to your health as what you put in your body.
This is why every ingredient we use is 100% edible, natural, vegan (aside from beeswax), food-grade, and organically sourced where possible.
While we don’t recommend eating our products, they’re so good you could eat them! Our products contain superfoods for your skin and are made from pure skin-nurturing oils and butters, organic
and fair trade tea, coffee, and spices, blended by hand and packaged with love without chemicals, preservatives, or fake fragrances.

GOOD FOR THE ENVIRONMENT
We know you care about the environment as much as we do, so we aim to be plastic-free and reusable wherever possible.
Honest Skincare products come in reusable aluminium tins and reusable, recyclable glass bottles.
Our raw ingredients come in resealable and reusable kraft paper bags with a foil lining, or if oil, in glass bottles.
We post in cardboard boxes and use wood wool or butcher paper as a packing material.

Yes, we are open 9 am—5 pm Monday through Friday. We are located at 8c Walls Road, Penrose in Auckland New Zealand
Yes, we do! We make our products on-site at our warehouse in Penrose, Auckland, and source ethical, organic, and fair-trade products from New Zealand and overseas.
If you order before 4pm on a weekday, your order will leave us that day. We send using trusted couriers. Generally it takes 1-3 days to be delivered in New Zealand, and less than a week to Australia.
